Textile Range Monitor

PRODUCT OVERVIEW: Range Condition Monitor system monitors and reports range temperatures, pressures, and speed on a CRT and printer in tabular and graphical form. The standard system supports multiple ranges with multiple zones each on one  Windows  computer system. This allows the department supervisor to easily view and save range conditions.

The scan program, which runs continuously on a PLC, can display instantaneous temperatures, pressures, and speed color coded by comparison to standard as needed digitally or a graph of conditions so far into the shift. The display can be easily switched between the tabular and the graphical modes.  This data is also automatically saved in standard databases for reporting at any time.

REPORTS AVAILABLE: End of shift reports provide: efficiency for each machine as total run minutes, stop minutes, percentages and average speed for the shift. The reporting program can be run at any time and can display current or historical data. The end-of-shift sequence also automatically purges the history file down to the number of months of data storage that  you select. The report program can be run on the main computer or any computer networked to it. This allows other departments to check lot progress when lot data is entered on the keypad at each range (when this feature is included).

The automatic end-of-shift reports also generate graphs of the conditions for the previous shift. These serve as a very quick way to review the shift activity. Things like downtime for maintenance or startup problems are readily apparent from the graphs.

There are several versions of this type system and it can be easily adapted to specific needs.  The only attachment necessary for the range is RTDs for temperature and a shaft encoder for speed with minimum cabling back to the PLC. A keypad is available for entering lot, roll and other data as needed.

DATA USAGES: By comparing processing conditions to physical test data realistic decisions about future setups can be made. The large variety of colors, styles, weights, and finishes makes it difficult to effectively optimize processing conditions without accurate information. The data collected by this monitoring system gives you an accurate way of knowing exactly what the processing conditions were.

We use a PLC for capturing temperatures, pressures etc. and this can be easily expanded into a control system. Consumption data on steam, water, electricity, and chemicals can also be collected.

WIDE ACCESS TO DATA: The data from this system can be transferred to other larger systems as needed or the data can be queried from other systems.
