PRODUCT OVERVIEW: The MSG SOFTENER CONTROLLER is a rugged, flexible, digital controller system primarily designed to monitor and control softener concentration in a softener bath. The bath volume can be controlled by pad level and the addition of concentrated softener handled by this controller.
SYSTEM DESCRIPTION: This self contained controller is housed in a NEMA enclosure for mounting in the production area adjacent to the range it is used on. The controller display indicates the status at any time.
The refractometer can measure down to 0% solids and is accurate to +/- 1% of the calibrated range. This normally equates to about 0.05%. The operator accessed screen allows set points to be adjusted when changing goods. There are other password protected screens for calibration, PID control constant entry for tuning, and changes to procedures.
This controller has front panel keypad for:
and 4 to 20ma or RS232 monitoring output if desired. The keypad is used to easily change set point values.
OTHER FEATURES: The controller monitors and can report refractive index, per cent solids and temperature. The standard control output is 4 to 20ma and we furnish the appropriate proportional stainless steel valve for flow control. The controller can be connected to a host PC computer for data logging.
SYSTEM OPERATION: Procedure numbers are used to call up stored set points for different types of materials. This is easier than having the operator change all the set points at each changeover. Stored set points can be easily adjusted as needed if needed.
The PID loop math built into the controller continuously adjusts the flow rate to maintain the proper softener concentration. Changes in pressures due to changing levels in head-tanks etc. are automatically compensated by varying valve openings.
