General Process Controls

PRODUCT OVERVIEW: Micro Services Group Process Controls use advanced Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) systems for integrating the control of all of the equipment on a particular process or an entire system. Our systems provide ladder logic programming for all control functions involved with easy modification as needed. Replacing existing controls or providing controls for older manual systems provides more flexibility and precision repetition of process steps. Timing sequences can be added to optimize production flow. Varying the speeds of feed motors creates a nonstop feed condition that allows better control and more uniform product. Touch-screens provide production information in an easy to understand format.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION: Our PLCs are connected to motor starters and protectors that we or you can provide. The PLCs can be attached to a color, industrial keyboard / display. This is used to graphically display the status and setup condition of each controlled process. Alarm messages lets the operator know any error conditions. The display shows the status of all input and output conditions. It is also used to startup variable speed motor control for optimum operational speeds.

The PLC also attaches to any fire suppression or similar emergency systems to ensure appropriate action in case a fire or other emergency condition is detected. This PLC system can be programmed for many different setups for various operating conditions. Data from the PLC can be exported to other monitoring systems if needed.

All PLCs are networked together and by addressing a modem we can troubleshoot the system from a remote computer. All PLC parts are readily available and the control system power is normally protected with an AC power line conditioner.

Installation includes connection of all signal and control wiring inside our cabinet and system checkout. Your operators and maintenance personnel will be trained during installation.

CONTROL STRATEGY: Control in these systems can be based on calls (demands) from the output end back toward the beginning of the process where needed. The setup selected generally determines the settings that control  flows, speeds, pressures, and locations. Different setups can direct the flow through different process machines.

Single button startup and shutdown sequences the individual machines that comprise a process to ensure that it starts up smoothly and reduces motor load by not allowing too many motors to start at one time. The control possibilities are greatly expanded compared to older systems. Critical motor speeds can be sensed to prevent overfeeds and stop a motor before damage to equipment can occur. Other voltages, currents, temperatures or other variables can be sensed and reported or controlled as needed. Motor speeds can be controlled by using pressure sensors or by the number of machines calling for material.

The color display graphically indicates the way the machines are connected for a particular setup. Error messages indicate the alarm conditions and greatly decrease the time necessary to locate problems.
