Textile Cooking Room Controls

PRODUCT OVERVIEW: Micro Services Group's Cooking Room Control integrates an Allen Bradley SLC503 PLC, Allen Bradley PanelView 550 Display, and a Weight Controller into one combined starch cooking control system. Temperature Controllers on the front of the control cabinet door control the temperature of the cooker tanks and the storage tanks. Status and formula control are done on the display. 50 to 100 different formulas can be selected. The display is also used for alarm conditions.

SYSTEM DESCRIPTION: The system automatically controls the amount of weight of reclaim, water, PVA, and Starch based on the formula selected. The cooking steps also allow automatic or manual addition of Wax and Urea. There is also provision of additional hand adds if needed. After the ingredients have been added, the system enables the steam valve and Cook tank Temperature Controller. Once the tank has reached cooking temperature, the cook timer is enabled. The temperature is maintained for the amount of time entered in the formula. If needed water is added to the tank after the cook is complete to reach the formula Weight Setpoint.

A strobe light on top of the control cabinet indicates alarms and waiting for operator input. The system can also be operated manually using the HOA switches on the front of the cabinet. A modem can be easily added for remote testing and troubleshooting. A supervisor PC can be added for remote monitoring and reporting. It can also be used to download additional formulas.

CONTROL STRATEGY: This system can make use of existing control devices as indicated above or a complete control package can be implemented with the PLC plus only sensors and valves. We will work with individual plants to implement this or similar processes based on existing equipment.
